Welcome to my website!
I sell personalised embroidered gifts for babies and young children.
I've been selling my gifts for over 10 years, I have over 40k fans on facebook and most of my customers are repeat buyers - they keep coming back due to great products and customer service.
Jo's Baby Gifts began back in 2007. I was at home, in our little flat, with my almost 8 week old beautiful baby Ollie and I remember wanting to get him a special keepsake.
I looked online for something to buy him but back then there was nothing much around. Personalised gifts were few and far between!
I decided to purchase a simple sewing machine and made him a little comfort blanket with some fabrics and ribbons I picked up from a fabric stall at Nottingham Market.
I was so pleased with it! Then, this idea popped into my head. I don't know how I even thought of if, but if it wasn't for that thought at that time, I probably wouldn't be as happy as I am today
I thought, how nice would it be to be able to add his name to this comforter.
From that moment, I haven't stopped. My life changed, and I can tell you right now, 10 years later, my life changed for the better, that is for sure!
I researched and the next day, I scrapped, quite literally, every penny I had to purchase a second hand embroidery machine, which didn't even work when I got it home.
My partner managed to fix it for me, and I embroidered my sons name onto my pride and joy. The machine even had some cute built in baby footprints which I embroidered alongside his name.
This moment, I knew i'd found something I loved doing.
I took to eBay, my favourite place.. after-all if it wasn't for eBay, I feel none of this would ever have been possible.
I listed my comforter, within a few days, I sold my first product.
I will never forget the excitement, the feeling I felt that someone actually wanted to buy my item.
I was jumping round my little flat, squealing to my partner in delight.
I made it.. and sent it out - she loved it and left a glowing feedback on my page.
Since then I have just haven't stopped.
I listed more comforters, in different colours and sizes.
I started making baby blankets too, from the fabric I found from this lovely lady at Nottingham Market.
Not long after this, I added baby clothes.
In 2009, I purchased my first industrial embroidery machine because my 2 little machines couldn't keep up and kept breaking down, which resulted in my partner being up all hours repairing them!
We then moved into a house because we needed more space.
From 2009 - 2012 I made it my mission to work as hard as I could, there were many nights where I wouldn't even go to sleep to keep up with orders.
3 more industrial machines were purchased in this time to keep up with orders, I couldn't fit anymore into my tiny conservatory!
In 2012, we were forced out of our rented house - I had managed to save up enough money for us to purchase our own home.
We moved in, in June 2012. Not long after this my 2nd beautiful son was born.
Since then, I’ve just been bringing up my children and working early mornings and late nights.
I have many lovely products now.
If you are passionate about something, you will work as hard as you can to make it work - I know that! The best thing is.. I love my job!
I love embroidery, I love babies and I love making things and being able to offer unique gifts for you to give.
My mind never stops thinking so expect new products and designs regulary
I am so excited to be able to say that I am opening a shop in early 2018.
The business has taken over our home, quite literally and we are looking forward to moving the business out of the house.
I have so many ideas to make the shop lovely and we are really looking forward to having a normal house ha-ha!
